General Electric

Recently, like Saturday recent, Tyler and I started to restore an old GE fridge. We haven’t done a ton of research on it yet, but we do know it’s old, and it’s awesome. This is new territory for us. And it’s exciting.

We started by taking out every shelf, drawer, door… really anything that would come out we took it off. And we started cleaning. Deep cleaning. You don’t need to know what we found inside this thing.

The girl we bought it from said she “restored” it herself. AKA she painted over the rust. We still have a lot of cleaning to do on the shelves and drawers, they have a lot of gunky build up, but at least they aren’t sticky anymore. The next step was sanding the heck out of this thing.

I need to take a minute to tell you about this person. Tyler is the most supportive person in my life, and that is saying a lot because I have tons of support surrounding me. I have never met anyone so genuine, gracious, fun, smart, and not to mention handsome. He is the person who lets me drag him to LA to buy an old fridge to restore. The person who buys me a new computer so I can start my blog again. The person who gets excited to work on new projects with me, even when we have a few ongoing projects already in the works. The person who sits patiently, and hungrily, while I photograph his meal. The person who supports and shows interest in even my wildest ideas. He is always by my side, no matter what. I am so thankful and fortunate to have him as my husband.

Okay, now on to the sanding. Really.

This is basically where we left things. Next up is priming. Then more sanding. More cleaning. Then paint. The inside of the fridge is this beautiful teal, and I figured we would just keep the body white. Tyler suggested painting the body tangerine, and he is totally right.
